Karen Brasier is an interdisciplinary artist living and working in Houston, TX. She holds a masters degree in architecture from the University of Cincinnati in 2010 and pursued graduate work in sculpture at the San Francisco Art Institute in 2011. Karen is Senior Designer at the architecture firm Design3 Studio and also serves on the exhibitions committee at the Architecture Center Houston. She was previously president of BOX13 ArtSpace and Artist in Residence at Houston Community College. Selected solo shows include site-specific installations at post-studio Projects, The Kenmore, and the Galveston Arts Center historical National Bank Building post-hurricane Ike.
Fueled by an interest in the built environment, Karen’s work indirectly explores issues of space, place, social interaction, and assemblage from the safe, detached perspective of abstract sculptural practice.
